Hi Holger,

I looked at accent signs and they are displayed correctly. I looked at
rendering in Acrobat and in the Google Docs viewer and I don't see anything
wrong, either.

I'll try to do the translation update within a week.

We have recently updated the content of Debian refcard for Stretch.
Since you are noted as last translator, I would like to ask if you could
take the time to update the translation again.
For most languages, there is only very few work to do.

I would like to change the build method for the Slovak pdf file.
Therefore I need a proofread of the new file, to ensure that everything
is still fine with the pdf, that the fonts are correctly displayed,
the text is clearly readable etc.
So I have attached the pdf, and would appreciate you to have a look
at it for checking.

I cannot understand, what you did, which files you watched (with a
webbrowser !), and what is so much broken...

With my patch included with this bug, I only changed the cs.po and
el.po and sk.po files.
So I am unable so see, why this should break so much files or translations.

I am very sorry, but me personally I am completely lost with your mail.

current fo.xsl deals with only first 2 <copyright>...</copyright> clauses,
so the result pdfs never had 3rd and later.

with the fo.xsl patch, assumed the translation has it,
correctly represents each one <copyright>...</copyright> clause per a line
([eu,gl,hi,it,ja,lt,ms,pl,pt_BR,sk,sv,tr,zh_TW] are the case)

broken files are broken regardless of your patch applied or not

note: lt version of fr translations is not broken
but a4 version is broken

if you still cannot understand, never mind and ignore it

Ok, when watching those pdfs, it really seems that most languages are broken.

But when I build them here (with my patch from #821119 applied), I get fine
pdfs for nearly all languages (at least as far as I can judge).

I would guess you used "make" to build the pdfs?
In that case FOP (or xmlroff ?) is used for the build, but that is not the
correct buildchain for most languages.
Most languages are build using dblatex.
So, "make USE_DBLATEX=1" does the trick.
That leaves only 7 languages with incorrect / incomplete / missing copyright
notice: ar, el, he, hi, ja, zh_CN and zh_TW

All the others look fine.

And now, when I apply your patch from your mail, I get indeed correct copyright
notices for 6 of those remaining 7 languages! Yeah!

So only el has broken copyright notice (it is not displayed at all).


That *IS* an improvement!

So, "make USE_DBLATEX=1" does the trick.

that was what I missed
then I tried to make "make USE_DBLATEX=2" work,
and could do it for most of langs with a patch to specify fonts to use
(only hebrew, which stops entire build process, cannot be build that way)

of course fonts can be other ones,
but these seems to be built fine,
and I don't know which ones are preferred by the native people
so that will be up to them :)

using xmlroff, and use dblatex instead.

The involved languages are: ar hi ml zh_CN zh_TW

We need to know which fonts are prefered for those languages.

Before this get committed, we need to get proofreaders for the involved

on each l10n list for all langs
as I cannot judge good font for langs other than ja
we prefer gothic than mincho as the latter has decorative character
while the former uses simple line,
so the latter often becomes ugly or poor rendered,
especially for small size
for better understanding, upper is gothic and bottom is mincho

like such, they may have their tastes, other than what the xsl uses
(fonts sometimes lack needed letter even their task packages pulled it)
other than that,
they may use special package like xeCJK, which makes font setting easier

Today I have committed the needed changes, to switch ja, zh_CN and zh_TW
to dblatex (patch provided by victory).

This also closes #783848 (refcard: There are some Chinese characters
garbled): proofreaders for zh_CN and zh_TW have confirmed that everything
is fine, when building this way.
